We at Malte Group are proud to announce that we have received the “Innovation of the Year” award at the Halmstad Business Gala — an invaluable recognition of our work to drive the industry forward. Here’s a message from our CEO, Therese Salomonsson:

This award means a lot to us — not only because it’s about innovation, but because it’s about the courage to think differently and find new ways in an industry built on strong traditions.

At Malte Group, we’re a family business. Now in our fifth generation, you can imagine how much things have changed since we started more than 100 years ago. But to be bold enough to renew ourselves, to break new ground without losing our roots — that has been a guiding principle throughout our journey. You could even say that it’s in our DNA. That’s why it feels especially rewarding to receive this award for “Innovation of the Year.”

This is an award that makes me incredibly proud — and one that is shared by all of us at Malte. None of this would have been possible without you. I’m deeply grateful that we’re on this journey together.

Winning this award is proof that the future is truly being built right here in Halmstad, by people who genuinely want to make a difference. Because we do make a difference. I really mean that.

So, from all of us at Malte Group – thank you to the jury, to our partners, and above all, to the team back home in the workshop. You’re the ones who turn our ideas into reality.

Sweden’s preparedness is no longer just a matter of theory, it has become a pressing reality. In a time when power supply, self-sufficiency, and crisis readiness have become central topics of discussion, the need for smart, sustainable, and robust solutions is growing. That’s why we at Malte Group have developed Malte GenSet, an off-grid energy system featuring Swedish-developed technology and green methanol as fuel.

Swedish solutions for a sustainable tomorrow

Malte GenSet is both developed and manufactured in Sweden, a conscious choice to ensure quality, availability, and self-sufficiency. At the heart of the system is a methanol-powered engine with a direct-coupled generator capable of delivering up to 145 kW peak power (120 kW continuous). The methanol, which is largely produced locally, is not only storable and climate smart but more importantly, available even during a crisis.

The unit is easy to service, simple to operate, and designed to function even during cold starts which is often a challenge for methanol-powered engines. This makes Malte GenSet a reliable choice, both for today’s energy needs and tomorrow’s uncertainties.

When preparedness becomes reality

Malte GenSet is more than a standalone energy solution, it’s a key component of Sweden’s emergency preparedness.

• It’s needed when sewage systems and water supplies must keep running during power outages.
• It’s needed when electric vehicles need charging in off-grid areas.
• It’s needed on construction sites for infrastructure projects, from ports to railways, where electricity isn’t readily available.

With Malte GenSet, we make it possible to secure the power supply quickly, sustainably, and independently.

Swedish Innovation in Focus During the Governor’s Visit

We had the honor of welcoming the Governor of Halland, Anders Thornberg, for a visit to Malte Group in Halmstad. During the tour, we had the opportunity to showcase how our Swedish production, from idea to finished solution, helps meet society’s growing need for reliable electricity, wherever in the country it may be needed.

Special attention was given to Malte GenSet, a concrete example of how technology, preparedness, and sustainability can be combined in practice.

We appreciate the Governor’s engagement in matters related to the future of energy supply and the opportunity to highlight how Swedish innovation can strengthen national preparedness across the country.
